Mobile Passport Seva Launched in Shopian, Bringing Services Closer to Citizens


Shopian, April 23:In a significant step toward enhancing citizen-centric services, the Mobile Passport Seva facility was inaugurated in Shopian today by Deputy Commissioner Shishir Gupta, in the presence of Regional Passport Officer Srinagar B.S. Rawat and other officials from the district administration and Regional Passport Office Srinagar.
Held at the Mini Secretariat Shopian, the initiative marks the first of its kind in the district, aiming to bring passport services directly to the doorstep of the public. On the opening day, more than 50 applicants availed the facility, benefiting from the streamlined and accessible service.
A dedicated team from the Regional Passport Office Srinagar was present to ensure smooth operations. The Mobile Passport Van service is scheduled for two days, during which over 100 applicants have already booked appointments to access passport-related services.

Officials also gathered feedback from applicants during the programme to improve future service delivery. Authorities assured that such mobile services will be organized regularly based on public demand, ensuring continued ease and accessibility.
Technical support for the camp was provided by the National Informatics Centre, facilitating seamless coordination and processing.
The initiative received an encouraging response, with applicants appreciating the effort and expressing the need for more frequent such camps in the district.
