Involving Holy Quran Is a New Low From NC: Mehbooba

Srinagar, May 6, KNT: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday accused the ruling National Conference (NC) of dragging religious sentiments into political disputes to deflect attention from governance-related issues in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing reporters, Mehbooba alleged that the National Conference had “stooped so low” that it was invoking the Holy Quran in political matters.

“They should understand the value and sanctity of the Quran and should not bring the holy book into petty political subjects,” she said.

She also referred to recent actions involving attachment of properties and demolition of houses in cases linked to alleged drug peddling and narcotics-related activities.

The PDP chief further criticized the government over the closure of educational institutions, including Siraj-ul-Uloom, and accused the administration of maintaining silence on the matter.

“The government’s silence speaks volumes,” she said while referring to the issue.

Mehbooba alleged that instead of addressing public concerns relating to unemployment, educational institutions and administrative actions, political attention was being shifted toward unnecessary controversies. [KNT]
