Blocked Drain in Nishat Causes Waterlogging, Residents Seek Urgent LAWDA Intervention

Srinagar, August 1, KNT: Residents of Bhatgoo Nishat on the outskirts of Srinagar have alleged that a blocked drainage channel has remained unattended for the past 13 days, leading to severe waterlogging, overflowing sewage and unhygienic conditions in the locality.
According to local residents, the clogged drain has caused water to spill onto the road and enter several nearby houses, disrupting daily life and causing considerable inconvenience to families. They said the situation has worsened with continuous accumulation of wastewater, raising concerns over sanitation and public health.
Residents further alleged that garbage and waste from the blocked drain have spread across the road, making it difficult for pedestrians to move and creating foul-smelling, unsanitary conditions in the area.
They claimed that despite repeated appeals, no official from the Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LAWDA) has visited the locality to assess or resolve the problem.
