Civilian Detained at Srinagar Airport for Attempting to Travel on a Fake Air Ticket

Srinagar, Dec 19, KNT: A civilian travelling from Budgam was detained at Srinagar International Airport on Friday after authorities found him attempting to travel to Delhi on a fake air ticket. Officials intercepted Syed Khurshid Ahmad, a resident of Village Bugru, Arigam Budgam, at the airport’s drop gate during routine checks.

Airport officials said that upon verification, the ticket produced by the passenger was found to be forged. During questioning, Ahmad confessed that the ticket was fake.
Following the admission, the passenger, along with his mobile phone and the vehicle he arrived in a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK 04A 9887, was handed over to Police Post Humhama for further investigation.
His associates were also taken into police custody for questioning.

Police said a case has been registered and the matter is being investigated to determine how the fake ticket was procured and whether more individuals are involved in the network. [KNT]
