The earthquake alert system issued precautionary safety messages, advising people to remain cautious and check their surroundings for possible structural damage. Experts note that Kashmir falls under a high seismic zone and such moderate earthquakes are not uncommon, though shallow tremors tend to be felt more strongly in the region.
Authorities have urged locals to stay calm, avoid rumours, and follow standard safety guidelines. People have also been advised to remain alert for possible aftershocks, which often follow earthquakes of moderate intensity.
