Shopian Police Attach House Worth Rs 18.88 Lakh in Narcotics Case


Shopian, March 28, KNT: Police in Shopian on Saturday attached a single-storey residential house valued at Rs 18.88 lakh in Barbugh Imamsahib area, officials said.
The property, registered under Khasra No. 126, belongs to Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, a resident of the locality.
The action comes as part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics-related activities, with police stating that the property was acquired through proceeds generated from the illegal sale of drugs.
Officials said the attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 02/2026 registered at Police Station Imamsahib under relevant provisions of law.

The process was executed in the presence of a duly constituted police team along with an Executive Magistrate, Lambardar and Chowkidar to ensure adherence to legal procedures.
Police said the move is aimed at curbing the drug menace by targeting assets derived from illicit activities and dismantling the financial networks of those involved.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against individuals engaged in drug trafficking and related offences. [KNT]
