Srinagar, July 3, KNT: In anticipation of the 8th Muharram-ul-Haram procession on Thursday, July 4, 2025, the Srinagar Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory, announcing major diversions along M.A. Road and surrounding areas from 5:00 AM till the culmination of the procession. The religious procession will start from Guru Bazar and culminate at Dalgate, affecting movement across the central parts of Srinagar.
As per the advisory, traffic from Karan Nagar towards Jehangir Chowk via Shaheed Gunj/Tankipora will be suspended between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Similarly, there will be no movement on the Jahangir Chowk-M.A. Road-Dalgate-Badyari route until the event concludes.
Traffic coming from Batmaloo, Rambagh, and Secretariat will be diverted via Residency Road and Hari Singh High Street, while vehicles from Rainawari-Nowpora and Khanyar-Ikhwan Chowk will be redirected through Barbarshah-Kralkhud-Habba Kadal-Karan Nagar. Traffic from Pantha Chowk and Sonwar will be diverted at Radio Kashmir via Abdullah Bridge and Residency Road.
Residents and tourists from Nehru Park, Nishat, and Shalimar have been advised to use Gupkar Road, Boulevard, and Fore Shore Road for travel. The public is also urged to avoid unnecessary movement along M.A. Road between Karan Nagar and Dalgate during the procession hours.
For participant parking, arrangements have been made at SP College Ground, Gindun Park, and the Batmaloo Bus Stand.
Citizens requiring assistance may contact the Traffic Police Control Room (Room No. 103). The advisory was issued by Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IPS), Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Srinagar, who regretted any inconvenience caused.
