Militant killed in North Kashmir encounter

SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpuri has said that they are alert in the district and efforts are on to neutralize forces inimical to peace.

Nagpuri was talking to reporters after the killing of a militant in an ongoing encounter in the district.

While divulging information about the operation, SSP Nagpure said Karhama Kunzar area of the district was brought under cordon after they received information about the movement of militants.

“There was an exchange of fire leading to the killing of a militant who is a native of Kulgam district,” he said adding that slain militant was affiliated with banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Nagpure said there a proper coordination between forces who are alert in wake of the G20 event. “We are alert in neutralizing the threat. G20 event will be held peacefully,” he added.

The slain militant has been identified as Abid Rafiq, a native of Yarhol Babapora Kulgam. [KNT]
