Young man killed after ‘walnut’ tree falls on him in South Kashmir’s Anantnag

A young man has died after being struck by a piece of a fallen walnut tree in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the incident took place yesterday in Wazir Bagh area late evening amid gusty winds and rainfall in the district.
They said the body was spotted by a few people who informed others. The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Irshad Nabi Alaie, a resident of Shaksaz Mohalla Kadipora.

The fallen branch of the tree was spotted beside the dead body.

“It’s not clear what the victim was doing in the field at the time of heavy rains,” locals said.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections of law. [KNT]
