One militant killed, three soldiers injured in Kulgam encounter


Kulgam, Sep 8, KNT: A militant was killed and three Army personnel were injured during an encounter in the Gudar forest area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday morning.
Officials said the gunfight erupted when security forces launched a search operation in the dense forest following inputs about militant presence. As the searches were underway, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a fierce exchange.
In the exchange of fire, three Army personnel sustained injuries. Among them, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) is reported to be in critical condition. The injured personnel were shifted to a medical facility for treatment. The identity of the soldiers has not been disclosed so far.

One militant was killed in the encounter. However, his identity and affiliation are yet to be ascertained. Security forces have cordoned off the area and a search operation is continuing to rule out the presence of more militants.
