Police investigation revealed that the accused posed as Deputy Superintendent of Police in the National Investigation Agency, as an administrator at Kashmir University, and even as a senior officer in the Enforcement Directorate at different times. By projecting himself as an influential official, he lured several people and extracted money on the pretext of providing them government jobs. He also manufactured forged documents, including job appointment letters and identity cards.

Acting on a court warrant, a police team carried out a search at his residence and seized incriminating material such as forged appointment orders and fake identity cards.

Police sources added that one case had earlier been registered against him at Police Station Nishat in Srinagar in a similar matter.

Appealing to the public, Ganderbal Police urged that anyone who may have been cheated by the accused should come forward and report their grievances. [KNT]
