Srinagar uptown residents demand establishment of fire service station

The inhabitants of various localities from Srinagar uptown have appealed to authorities to set up a fire station between Raj Bagh and Jawahar Nagar so that massive losses taking place due to fire incidents could be minimized.

“In case of fire incident, people struggle to douse the fire,” a social activist and trader Muhammad Altaf Dar told the news agency Kashmir News Trust adding that scores of areas from Srinagar uptown are dependent on the service of the fire stations from Batamaloo and Barbarshah which are based in congested areas.

“A fire broke out at the Zero Bridge recently and a major loss was reported in the incident. A fire station is required in the Rajbagh or Jawahar Nagar area that will serve scores of areas including the Zero Bridge, Armwari, Kanilpora, Footbridge Rajbagh, Khujbagh, Iqbal Colony, Pathan Bagh, Kursoo, Rajbagh, Jawaharnagar, Ikhrajpora, Wazir Bagh, Gogibagh, Solina Padshahibagh, Mehjoor Nagar, Soeitang and nearby areas,” said the locals.

They said that many government offices and commercial buildings are present in these areas.. The residents requested the Lt Governor administration, and district administration to establish a fire station in Jawahar Nagar or Raj Bagh. [KNT]
