Police held 3 drug peddlers in Srinagar

Police on Monday claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers along with Ghanja and poppy straw in Srinagar city.

Police in a statement said that Police Station Parimpora received a docket on behalf of the In-charge Police Post Qamarwari stating there in that he along with Escort was conducting Naka checking at Arampora Qamarwari when an Auto-rickshaw (JK01H- 8070) coming from Parimpora towards Arampora with three persons on board, tried to escape after seeing police but were tactfully apprehended.

During checking of the said Auto two polythene bags were recovered in which 2.5 kilograms Ghanja and 2.5 kilograms of Poppy Straw-like substance were recovered.

The trio has been identified as Azhar Mohiuddin Bhat of Firdous Colony Bemina Srinagar, Ajaz Ahmad Khan of Arampora Qamarwari Srinagar, and Khalid Kansa of Bandipora presently residing at PDD Colony Qamarwari.

An FIR vide number 46/23 has been registered and the trio has been booked under different sections of the NDPS Act. [KNT]
