Baisakhi was celebrated with religious fervor across Kashmir Valley on Friday.
People from the Sikh community visited Gurudwaras and offered prayers. The day marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year. It is also a commemoration of the formation of the Khalsa Panth of warriors under the 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.
Men, women, and children were seen in colorful clothes while scores of people from the Sikh community visited different Mughal gardens in Srinagar.
All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee President Jagmohan Singh Raina told news agency Kashmir News Trust that important function was held at Chati Patshahi in the Rainawari area of the city where a large number of devotees prayed and enjoyed the feast from langar.
The festival was also celebrated in different parts of the Valley by people from the Sikh community while the local Muslim population also shared the joyous moments with them. (KNT)
