J&K: 3 young cousin sisters jump into river, one dead

One among three cousin sisters died after they jumped into the river in the Poonch district of Jammu region.

The attempt to suicide was made by the trio on Friday late evening.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that three young cousin sisters falling in the age group of 18 to 25 jumped into the river near Sher-i-Kashmir Bridge.

Locals with the help of police retrieved all of them. One among them (17-year-old, name withheld) died in the hospital. Two other cousin sisters (Age 18 & 25) have been undergoing treatment in the hospital and their condition is stated to be stable.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections of law. [KNT]
