7 power plant workers killed in Kishtwar road accident

At least seven workers working at a power plant were killed, while 3 others were injured after a vehicle rolled down a deep gorge in the Dachan area of Jammu Kashmir’s Kishtwar on Wednesday morning.

Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police that an unfortunate road accident in a Cruiser vehicle (JK06-3095) occurred at the site of Dangduru Power Project in Dachan area) which was ferrying workers of the project. He said that 6 workers died while 6 others sustained injuries.

The rescue operation was launched shortly after the accident, he said.

At least 3 workers were injured in the accident who have been shifted to hospital. The condition of the injured is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitendra Singh spoke to DC Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav, about the accident and said all possible help was being provided.

Various political leaders including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Syed Altaf Bukhari, Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah and others have expressed sympathies with the bereaved families. [KNT]
