July 2023: 8 persons including 4 non-local militants killed in J&K

Eight persons including 4 non-local militants and 3 infiltrators were killed in July this month in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the first seven months of the current year, 46 people have been killed in militancy-related incidents. These include 10 civilians, 23 infiltrators, 4 non-local militants, 8 local militants and 11 soldiers.

Three infiltrators this month were killed in the Nowshera Sector of Rajouri and Machil Sector of Kupwara along the Line of Control.

Four non-local militants all from Pakistan according to the police killed in Sinhrah village of Sarankote Poonch during an encounter.

A forest employee Imran Yousuf Wani of the village of Mohnu village of Charar-e-Sharif Budgam was killed in a militant onslaught near Bangender Bridge Pulwama. Another employee (Forester) Jahangir Mohiuddin Chechi of Gogjipather Chadoora had sustained minor injuries in the attack.

Besides this, militants carried out two attacks in South Kashmir. In the Gagrin area of Shopian, militants shot at and injured 3 migrant workers Anmol Kumar, Pintu Kumar Thakur, and Heeralal Yadav, all residents of Bihar.

Militants also shot at an injured 2 non-local workers Akshay Kanta and Saurav Pratab of Sangli Maharashtra in the Lal Chowk area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. [KNT]
