ECI Team to Arrive in Kashmir Valley Tomorrow, Meet Political Leaders and Officials

 

Srinagar, Aug 7, KNT: A team from the Election Commission of India (ECI) is scheduled to arrive in the Kashmir Valley tomorrow, marking a significant step towards assessing the region’s preparedness for upcoming elections.

Upon arrival in Srinagar, the team will engage in meetings with political leaders from various recognized parties, seeking their feedback and perspectives on the electoral process.

In addition to political consultations, the team will also hold meetings with top officials from the police and civil administration, including District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from different districts.

Sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the team’s primary objective is to gauge the situation on the ground and assess the feasibility of conducting free and fair elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

On Friday, the team will depart for Jammu, where they will seek feedback from enforcement agencies and interact with the media fraternity before heading back to New Delhi.

This visit is seen as a crucial step towards determining the timeline and modalities of the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
