Low Voter Turnout in Srinagar Assembly Segment, Omar Abdullah Blames Central Government

Srinagar, Sep 26, KNT: The Srinagar Assembly segment witnessed a dismal voter turnout in the ongoing elections, with participation rates ranging from 18.80% to 34.65% across various constituencies.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attributed the low turnout to the Central Government’s narrative linking high voter participation to normalcy in Kashmir. “After abrogating Article 370, the Centre claimed that increased voter turnout indicated return to normalcy. This misguided approach has led to disillusionment among voters,” Omar Abdullah said.

Omar Abdullah expressed optimism about the upcoming third phase of polling in North Kashmir, predicting a higher voter turnout and support for National Conference and Congress candidates.
