Speculations of Rift in National Conference Quashed as MP’s Absence Explained

Srinagar, Jan 14, KNT: The absence of Central Kashmir MP and National Conference leader, Rahullah Mehdi from the inauguration ceremony of the Sonamarg Tunnel yesterday sparked rumors of a potential rift between him and his party leader, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. However, the office of Mehdi dismissed these speculations, citing his prior commitment to a parliamentary committee meeting in India’s southern city Chennai.

Speaking to Kashmir News Trust, a confidant of Mehdi clarified that the MP has been in Chennai for the past six days, attending an official parliamentary engagement. “His absence from the Sonamarg Tunnel inauguration has nothing to do with any discord within the party. He was simply fulfilling his responsibilities as a member of Parliament,” the confidant stated.

Notably, Ruhullah Mehdi’s absence from a high-profile event fueled conjecture about internal disagreements, which party insiders have strongly denied.
