Wildlife Team Captures Black Bear in Ganderbal Village

 

Ganderbal, Jan 22, KNT: The Wildlife Department captured a black bear on Wednesday that had been causing fear among the locals of Gujjar Basti Watnar, a remote village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The bear, which had been sighted roaming near populated areas, was safely trapped in a net by the Wildlife Team after villagers sought their assistance.

A Wildlife Department official confirmed the operation, stating, “The black bear was creating panic among the villagers, and they had requested us to intervene. Today, we successfully captured the bear, and it will soon be released in a distant forested area, far from human habitation.”

The operation brings relief to the villagers, who had been concerned about the potential risks posed by the animal’s presence.

The Wild Life official urged villagers to report sightings of wild animals promptly to ensure both human and wildlife safety. [KNT]
