Kota, May 26, KNT: An 18-year-old NEET aspirant from Jammu and Kashmir allegedly died by suicide in Kota on Sunday evening, making it the 15th student suicide in the coaching hub this year and the second in May.
The girl from Jammu and Kashmir was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her paying guest accommodation in the Pratap Chouraha area. According to police, she had called a relative shortly before the incident, hinting at her intent to end her life. The relative immediately alerted another student in the same building, but by the time the door was broken down with the help of nearby carpenters, it was too late. She was declared dead at the hospital.
Police said she had returned to Kota a month ago and was pursuing self-study after previously attending a coaching institute. Her room lacked the mandated anti-hanging fan device, which is designed to prevent such deaths. [KNT]
