Pampore residents seek appointment of female medical staff at Sub District Hospital

Pulwama, Aug 21, KNT: Locals of saffron town Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have appealed to health authorities to appoint female medical staff at the Sub District Hospital, citing serious inconvenience faced by women patients due to the absence of women doctors, nurses, and attendants.

In a written representation to the Block Medical Officer, the locals highlighted that women patients often feel uncomfortable undergoing sensitive procedures such as ECG when conducted by male staff. They said this situation not only leads to embarrassment and hesitation but also discourages many women from seeking timely medical treatment.

The locals stressed that healthcare is a basic necessity and pointed out that cultural and religious values place special emphasis on modesty and dignity in matters concerning women. They warned that the lack of female staff at the hospital could endanger the health of many women in the area.
