Two Soldiers Killed, Two Injured as Akhal Forest Encounter Enters Ninth Day

Kulgam, Aug 9, KNT: Two Army personnel were killed and two others injured as the fierce exchange of fire between militants and security forces continued through the night in the Akhal forest area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, where the gunfight entered its ninth day on Saturday.

Army officials said Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh lost their lives in the line of duty, while two other soldiers sustained injuries during the ongoing operation. The injured personnel have been evacuated for treatment.

Chinar Corps paid tributes to the slain soldiers, describing their courage and dedication as an inspiration for generations. “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts… Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us,” the statement read, extending deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
