One Chungi Employee Killed, Another Critical After Vehicle Hits Them in North Kashmir’s Sopore

Sopore, Oct 20, KNT: In a  road accident near Model Town Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday late evening, one Chungi employee was killed and another critically injured after being hit by a speeding vehicle near Chinar Crossing.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Trust said the accident occurred when a vehicle bearing registration number JK02BW-2197 struck two employees who were on duty at the Chungi point, managing the entry of vehicles in the area.

The victims were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Sopore, where doctors declared one of them, Bilal Ahmad, son of Wazir Ahmad and a resident of Saidpora Sopore, as brought dead. He was 29 years old.

The other injured, identified as Shahid Hilal, son of Hilal Ahmad Shah, aged 25, and a resident of Nadihal Rafiabad, sustained grievous injuries.

After receiving initial treatment at Sopore hospital, he was referred to SKIMS Soura Srinagar for advanced medical care due to his critical condition.

Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated an investigation. The vehicle involved in the mishap has been seized, while efforts are underway to trace the driver who reportedly fled the scene after the collision. [KNT]
