Police Raid Conducted After Court-Backed Search Warrant; Case Registered Under NDPS Act

Shopian, Oct 27, KNT: Shopian Police on recovered more than one kilogram of charas from a residential house in Zainapora and arrested the accused during a raid conducted under a court-issued search warrant.
Acting on specific intelligence, Police Station Zainapora registered a case under FIR No. 98/2025 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and sought a search warrant from the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Shopian. Following the court’s approval, a team from Police Station Zainapora, accompanied by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, conducted the search operation at the residence of Ainaul Ul Huda Dar, a resident of Darbagh, Zainapora.
During the search, police recovered 1.164 kilograms of charas-like substance from the house. The accused was taken into custody on the spot, and the contraband was seized for forensic examination and evidentiary procedures.
A senior police officer said the operation was part of an intensified campaign against narcotic smuggling and drug abuse in the district. “We are committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from society. Our teams are working on both enforcement and awareness fronts,” the officer added.

The case has been taken up for further investigation to identify other possible links or suppliers associated with the seized narcotics. Police said more arrests are likely as the probe progresses.
Meanwhile, the Shopian Police have urged locals to cooperate in the ongoing anti-drug efforts and to report any information about drug abuse or peddling in their areas. [KNT]
