Traffic Disrupted as Protesters Block Road Seeking Potable Water in Budgam

Budgam, Nov 21, KNT: Inhabitants of Mazhama Magam in Budgam district are facing a severe shortage of drinking water, prompting a protest that led to the blockade of the Magam–Gulmarg road on Friday.

Locals told Kashmir News Trust that the area has been struggling with an acute water crisis for several days, yet no substantial action has been taken by the concerned authorities to restore the supply. They said many households have been left without clean drinking water, disrupting daily routines and forcing families to depend on unreliable alternative sources.

The situation escalated when men and women gathered at Mazhuma Magam Main Chowk and staged a protest demanding immediate intervention from the administration. The demonstration led to a traffic blockade along the busy Magam–Gulmarg route, causing congestion and delays for commuters.
