Pratap Park Self-Immolation Attempt: Woman Injured in Srinagar Park Fire Incident Passes Away

 

 

Srinagar, Dec 1, KNT: The woman who had set herself on fire at Pratap Park in Srinagar on Saturday succumbed to her burn injuries early Monday morning at SMHS Hospital, officials said.

According to officials, the woman had poured petrol over herself and set herself ablaze inside the public park, triggering panic among visitors. Locals present at the spot had rushed to intervene and managed to extinguish the flames before police personnel shifted her in critical condition to the hospital for treatment.

Hospital sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the woman had suffered extensive burns and was put under intensive medical care soon after admission. Despite sustained efforts by doctors, she failed to recover from the severity of her injuries.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances that led to the extreme step. [KNT]
