Baramulla, June 2, KNT: Sopore Police on Monday conducted a search operation at the residence of a Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI)-linked individual in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, as part of an ongoing investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to a police statement issued to Kashmir News Trust, the operation was carried out at the house of Abdul Razak Hajam, son of Abdul Samad Hajam, a resident of Hajam Mohalla, Dardpora Zaloora in Sopore. The search was conducted in connection with FIR No. 42/2025, registered under Sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA.
Police said the search was executed after securing a proper warrant from a competent court. During the operation, incriminating material linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami organization was recovered and seized for further investigation.
Officials confirmed that the operation was conducted in the presence of Magistrates and independent witnesses to ensure procedural transparency and legal adherence.
A police spokesperson noted that the action forms part of a larger strategy by Sopore Police aimed at identifying and acting against individuals and networks promoting separatist ideology or disturbing public order and national integrity.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
