Fire Breaks Out Near LD Hospital Bund, Damage Contained


Srinagar, Jan 5, KNT: A fire broke out in a residential structure near LD Hospital Bund in Srinagar on Monday, triggering concern among locals before being brought under control by the Fire and Emergency Services.

Officials said the fire affected a three-story structure. Fire personnel reached the spot and managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building or nearby structures.

Preliminary findings, as per an official, indicate that the fire was caused by a short circuit, reportedly due to haphazard electrical wiring. Locals said thick smoke was seen rising from the structure, causing panic in the vicinity before the situation was brought under control.

No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities said the situation is fully under control and further examination will be carried out if required to ascertain the exact cause. [KNT]
