Samba Police arrest three, including woman, in heroin smuggling case

Samba, Jan 29, KNT: Samba Police on Thursday arrested three individuals, including a woman, in connection with a heroin smuggling case in the Vijaypur area, officials said.

Police said a team from Police Station Vijaypur intercepted an Innova vehicle bearing registration number JK02DD 2516 at Tarapur during a routine checking operation. Upon search, approximately 127 grams of a heroin like substance along with Rs 60,600 in cash was recovered from the possession of the occupants.

An official told Kashmir News Trust that the arrested accused have been identified as Fardeen Ahmed Dar of Srinagar, Mohammad Usman of Jammu, and Iqra of Srinagar. All three were taken into custody on the spot.

Police said a case under FIR No 19 of 2026 has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Vijaypur. The vehicle used for transporting the contraband has also been seized.

The operation was led by the Station House Officer of Police Station Vijaypur under the supervision of the SDPO Vijaypur and the overall guidance of the SSP Samba. Further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized contraband. [KNT]
