Following the blast, security forces launched a search operation in the area to rule out the presence of additional explosives.
During the operation, a rusted shell was recovered and subsequently defused by a bomb disposal squad, preventing any further danger.
The LoC in Poonch and other frontier districts frequently witnesses such incidents due to legacy mines and unexploded shells, particularly in areas close to forward positions. [KNT]
