Srinagar Police Seals Five Medical Shops in Nowhatta and Soura During Anti-Drug Crackdown

Srinagar, May 14:In a major enforcement drive under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan,” Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Drug Control Department, sealed five medical shops in the Nowhatta and Soura areas of Srinagar for alleged violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

During inspections in the Nowhatta area, authorities found three medical shops violating prescribed norms and ordered their closure. The shops identified were Boulevard Medicate Chemist and Druggist at Nowhatta Chowk, New Qureshi Medicose at Nowhatta Chowk, and Khurshid Medical Hall at Haq Bazar Pandan, Nowhatta. Police said legal proceedings under relevant laws have been initiated against the violators.

In a similar operation in the Soura area, two more medical shops were sealed for non-compliance with regulatory provisions. These included Aisha Health Medicate at Makdoompora Nowshahra, owned by Arfat Nabi Sofi (Licence No. SR1840708), and Waseem Medicate Chemist and Druggists at Nowshahra, owned by Mohd Waseem Khan (Licence No. JK2025002485).

Officials said the joint drives are part of continued efforts to strengthen regulation of pharmaceutical sales, prevent misuse of prescription drugs, and combat drug abuse in society.
