Srinagar Police Intensify Public Outreach Against Drug Abuse

 

Srinagar, June 1, KNT: Srinagar Police on Monday organized a drug awareness rally in the city under the 100-Day Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign and Drug-Free India Campaign, mobilizing students, traders and local residents against substance abuse.

The initiative forms part of continuing efforts by police to combine enforcement with public awareness in addressing growing concerns over drug addiction, particularly among youth.

The rally commenced from Police Station Maisuma and passed through Ghanta Ghar and Lal Chowk before culminating at Pratap Park.

The event witnessed participation from students of Gowsia Middle School Maisuma, members of the Traders Association Lal Chowk, local shopkeepers and residents of the area.

Officials said the programme was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Kothibagh and focused on sensitizing the public about the harmful impact of drug abuse and the importance of collective responsibility in curbing the menace.

Participants carried placards and raised awareness messages highlighting the dangers associated with narcotics and substance abuse.

Police said the rally reflected continued emphasis on community engagement and preventive awareness as important components in the broader campaign against drug abuse.

Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to tackling narcotics-related challenges through law enforcement, awareness initiatives and public cooperation, urging citizens to support efforts aimed at building a drug-free society. [KNT]
