Multiple Candidates Trail Behind NOTA in One-Sided Electoral Contest, BJP’s Devyani Rana Maintains Unassailable Lead

 

 

Nagrota, Nov 14, KNT: In an unusual electoral trend, NOTA (None of the Above) has secured more votes than several candidates in the Nagrota Assembly by-election even as BJP nominee Devyani Rana continues to dominate the contest with a massive lead.

As counting reached the ninth round, NOTA registered 304 votes, outpolling several contestants including Qari Zaheer Abbas Bhatti, Gulzar Hussain, Shah Mohd, Joginder Singh and Naresh Kumar Chib. The tally places NOTA ahead of a significant number of recognised and independent candidates, highlighting voter dissatisfaction with the available choices.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Devyani Rana remains firmly in the lead with 36,709 votes after widening her margin to 24,005 votes. Her nearest competitor, Harsh Dev Singh of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, has secured 12,704 votes, followed by NC candidate Shamim Begum with 10,001 votes.

Other candidates from the Apni Party, Aam Aadmi Party and independent contestants continue to trail far behind, with many polling fewer votes than NOTA.

Counting is progressing smoothly and the final outcome is expected after the remaining rounds are completed. [KNT]
