Ask LoP Why Darbar Move Was Shut in 2021, People Should Thank Omar Abdullah: Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary

Jammu, Feb 2, KNT: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Monday hit out at the Leader of Opposition, asking him to explain why the Darbar Move was shut down in 2021, and said that the revival of the historic practice has played a key role in restoring economic activity in Jammu.
While talking to reporters in Jammu, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the hustle and bustle currently visible in Jammu’s markets is a direct result of restarting the Darbar Move. He said the decision was taken by the National Conference government to revive economic vibrancy and administrative balance between the two regions.
“If Jammu is witnessing life in its markets today, it is because of the restarting of the Darbar Move. This was done by the National Conference government, and traders should thank Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for it,” Choudhary said.
He expressed regret that despite the move benefiting Jammu, there are allegations of discrimination being levelled against Omar Abdullah. “Unfortunately, everyone here in Jammu claims that Omar Abdullah is resorting to discrimination, which is not true,” he said.

Taking a sharp dig at the opposition, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the only job of the Leader of Opposition is to create controversies instead of raising constructive issues. He accused the opposition of misleading people through selective narratives.
Choudhary also questioned the BJP over its unfulfilled promises, asking where the restoration of statehood is, which the party and its leaders had promised repeatedly during election rallies. He said people have not forgotten those assurances and deserve clear answers.
The Deputy Chief Minister maintained that the government remains focused on governance and economic revival, while the opposition continues to engage in political point-scoring. [KNT]
