Jammu, Feb 3, KNT: Senior National Conference leader and Minister Sakina Itoo on Tuesday asserted that the proposed National Law University should be established in Kashmir, cautioning that locating it in Jammu could jeopardize its future due to political interference.

Speaking on the issue, Sakina Itoo said there was a real danger that the law university could meet the same fate as the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi medical college in Jammu, which she said had faced disruptions and uncertainty. She argued that higher education institutions should not be exposed to political pressures that could undermine their functioning.

Raising concerns over the prevailing political climate, Itoo said that if the National Law University were set up in Jammu, there was apprehension that objections could be raised in the future over the admission of Muslim students. She warned that such a situation could ultimately lead to the institution being shut down, harming students across regions.
