Srinagar Traffic Gridlock: MA Road, Lal Chowk, Abdullah Bridge Choked Amid Diversions

Srinagar, April 26, KNT: Traffic congestion disrupted movement across central Srinagar on Sunday, with major routes including MA Road, Lal Chowk, and Abdullah Bridge witnessing prolonged gridlock that left commuters stranded for extended periods.
Commuters reported that a journey that typically takes five minutes stretched to nearly an hour due to heavy vehicle buildup and diversions in the city’s core areas.
The congestion was particularly severe around Sangarmal and Abdullah Bridge, where traffic diversions created bottlenecks, slowing down movement across connecting roads.

In addition to diversions, commuters pointed to the poor condition of a road stretch near Sangarmal, where a dilapidated section further restricted vehicle flow and added to the traffic buildup.
The combined impact of rerouting and road conditions resulted in long queues of vehicles across multiple junctions, affecting both public and private transport. [KNT]
