Pulwama, Feb 4, KNT: To curb illegal mining, the Department of Geology and Mining launched a late-night operation in Gund Asan Lassipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, seizing three dumpers and a JCB involved in unauthorized mineral extraction and transportation.
The Mining and Surveillance Enforcement Wing led the crackdown as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities that threaten the environment and deplete natural resources. Officials confirmed that the seized vehicles were being used for illicit excavation.
Authorities have issued a stern warning, vowing strict action against violators while pledging continued enforcement drives to uphold mining regulations. “Legal proceedings have been initiated against the offenders,” said an official.
He urged the public to report any illegal mining activities and contribute to protecting the Pulwama district’s natural resources. [KNT]
