Toyota Unveils Fortuner & Legender Neo Drive 48V Variants with Better Efficiency, Power and Comfort

New Delhi, Jun 2, KNT: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today launched the much-anticipated Neo Drive 48V variants of its popular SUVs, Fortuner and Legender, introducing a segment-first mild-hybrid diesel technology aimed at delivering better fuel economy, lower emissions, and enhanced driving performance.

The new Neo Drive variants are powered by Toyota’s proven 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, now paired with a 48-Volt system comprising a belt-integrated starter generator and lithium-ion battery. This setup provides smoother low-speed acceleration, quieter operation, and improved overall fuel efficiency. It also incorporates regenerative braking to recover energy during deceleration and includes a Smart Idle Start-Stop function to reduce emissions when the vehicle is stationary.

Despite the addition of hybrid technology, Toyota assures that the Fortuner and Legender maintain their legendary ruggedness, off-road capability, and payload capacity. The Multi-Terrain Select system continues to provide excellent adaptability across challenging surfaces, making the SUVs ideal for a wide range of users—from urban commuters to off-road enthusiasts.

While the Fortuner retains its muscular, no-nonsense look tailored for rough terrains, the Legender is targeted at premium SUV buyers with a more stylish aesthetic. The Legender features dual-tone body colours, sleeker split LED headlamps, and an overall sportier design. Both models boast plush dual-tone leather interiors, soft-touch materials, and ergonomic seating to ensure enhanced comfort over long drives.

Toyota continues to prioritize safety, equipping both models with an extensive list of features, including seven airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Assist, WIL Concept Seats, Child Restraint Systems, and seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters.

To make the ownership journey worry-free, Toyota is offering a suite of tailored finance plans for the new Neo Drive variants. Options include up to 8-year funding with low EMIs, Toyota Smart Balloon Finance, and pre-approved Value-Added Services like extended warranties and genuine accessories. The SUVs also come with five years of complimentary roadside assistance and a standard warranty of 3 years/100,000 km—extendable up to 5 years/220,000 km. The Toyota Smiles Plus service package adds further flexibility.

Bookings for the Fortuner and Legender Neo Drive variants are now open from June 2, 2025, and deliveries are slated to commence in the third week of June. With this launch, Toyota reaffirms its commitment to delivering customer-centric innovation while promoting sustainable mobility through practical hybrid solutions.
