Residential Property Worth Rs 1.5 Crores Attached in Srinagar Under NDPS Act

In a decisive action aimed at crippling the infrastructure behind the drug trade, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property worth approximately Rs 1.5 crores under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The move marks another strong step in the ongoing campaign to dismantle narcotics networks in the region.
The attached property includes a double-storey residential house along with 1 kanal and 4 marlas of land located at Budoo Bagh Khanyar in Srinagar. As per official revenue records, the property is owned by Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, son of Late Abdul Rehman Bhat, and is currently in the possession of his son, Suhail Ahmed Bhat. Suhail has been identified as a notorious drug peddler with multiple involvements in narcotics-related crimes.
Police said Suhail is a key accused in FIR No. 55/2022 registered under sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Khanyar. He has a known history of drug trafficking and is alleged to have been involved in the supply of narcotics to youth in and around the area, thereby posing a serious threat to public health and community safety.
Investigations conducted by law enforcement agencies revealed that the aforementioned property was acquired through proceeds derived from illicit drug trade. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the police formally seized and attached the property after completing all due legal formalities. Authorities have clarified that the property is now under legal restraint and cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without explicit approval from the competent authority.
