Normalcy Returns in Leh, Schools up to Class 12 Reopen, Shops and Public Transport Resume Operations
Leh, Oct 6, KNT: Normal life resumed in Leh on Monday as authorities lifted curfew restrictions imposed in the aftermath of September 24 violence, allowing schools, shops, and public transport to reopen across the district. The decision came after the administration reviewed the situation and reported complete restoration of order in the town.
Officials said schools up to Class 12 have reopened, with students returning to classrooms after several days of closure. Attendance in most institutions remained satisfactory, while teachers were directed to ensure regular academic activity.
Shops, business establishments, and transport services also resumed normal operations. “The situation in Leh has improved significantly. All curbs have been withdrawn, and normal movement of people and vehicles has been restored,” a senior official said.
Public and private transport, including local buses, have started operating on all routes within the district. Marketplaces witnessed moderate activity as locals stepped out to purchase essentials. Authorities said they are maintaining a close watch on the situation to ensure that peace continues.
