Two Teenagers Drown in Stream in J&K’s Doda’s Chiralla Area

 

Doda, Oct 15, KNT: Two teenage boys lost their lives after drowning in a stream in the Chiralla area of Doda district on Wednesday afternoon. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the region.

Reports said that the two boys were bathing in the stream when they accidentally slipped into deep water and drowned. The incident took place in the Bhaderwah tehsil’s Chiralla area, following which panic spread among the locals.

Soon after the news broke, locals along with a police team from the nearby station rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Despite their efforts, the bodies of both boys were found a short distance downstream.

The deceased have been identified as Akshay Kumar (15), son of Hemat Singh, and Sajal Minhas (15), son of Kashmir Singh, both residents of Malhota Bhaderwah.

Police officials said that a case has been registered and further investigation into the circumstances leading to the drowning is underway. They added that preliminary inquiry suggests the boys may have slipped while playing or bathing near the stream. [KNT]
