Srinagar, Oct 17, KNT: Visitors to the famous Badamwari Park in Srinagar have expressed resentment over its poor upkeep and unhygienic conditions, alleging that despite paying an entry fee of Rs 30, the facilities inside the park remain in a neglected state.
Located at the foothills of Hari Parbat, Badamwari Park, renowned for its almond blossoms and scenic charm, has long been a major tourist attraction and a cherished spot for locals. However, visitors say that the park’s condition has deteriorated considerably, with filthy washrooms, littered pathways, and unkempt lawns tarnishing its beauty.
“The condition of the bathrooms is pathetic. They are dirty and completely unfit for use. It’s shocking that we are charged Rs 30 as entry fee for such poor facilities,” said Bilal Ahmad, a visitor from Srinagar. “There is no regular cleaning staff, and even the dustbins are overflowing.”
Locals and tourists alike have questioned the rationale behind the entry fee, saying that such charges should at least guarantee basic amenities and maintenance. “For a place that charges more than most public parks, Badamwari deserves far better care. It looks abandoned in many corners,” said another visitor.

Several visitors also complained about the absence of drinking water points, damaged benches, and poorly maintained flower beds. “The lawns are drying up, and the walkways are uneven. It’s clear that maintenance is being ignored,” said a family visiting the park on Friday afternoon.
People have urged authorities to immediately inspect the park and take corrective measures. They demanded better sanitation, regular cleaning, functional washrooms, and visible accountability from staff deployed at the site. [KNT] [Photograph Attached]
