CM Omar Abdullah Says NC Will Review Setback After Budgam By-Poll Loss

Srinagar, Nov 14, KNT: Reacting to the National Conference’s defeat in the Budgam Assembly by-election, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said the party had expected a different outcome but respected the voters’ decision.

Omar said the NC had sought a mandate to continue development work in Budgam and strengthen the constituency’s relationship with the ruling party. “Something else we wanted. We wanted development in Budgam, we wanted them to have a relation with the ruling party, but people wanted otherwise,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the party will now undertake a detailed review of the defeat. “We will analyse the result, where we erred, where we need to fix, if some change is required in NC,” he said, adding that the working committee will meet soon to take decisions on the way forward. [KNT]
