Police arrest Shakeel Bakshi in 29-year-old Old Case, Taken Into Custody in Srinagar

 

Srinagar, Dec 8, KNT: Police Station Shergari on Monday arrested Shakeel Bakshi in connection with a decades-old case, officials said.

Shakeel Bakshi, a native of Ziyarat Batmaloo and presently residing in Gousia Colony, Bemina, Srinagar, was apprehended from the Lower Court Bemina area and taken into custody in connection with FIR No. 192 of 1996 registered at Police Station Shergari. The case dates back to July 17, 1996, and includes charges under Sections 307, 341, 148, 336, and 332 of the Ranbir Penal Code, along with Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

Police officials said the arrest was made as part of ongoing efforts to trace and apprehend individuals wanted in long-pending cases. They added that all legal formalities are being followed and further investigation is underway to ascertain the individual’s role in the case. [KNT]
