

Pulwama, April 27, KNT: A suspected rabid dog has triggered panic in Shahabad Payeen village of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after attacking and injuring four people, including a woman and a minor, villagers said on Monday.
Locals said the dog has been roaming in and around the village for the past few days and has attacked multiple individuals, creating fear among inhabitants, particularly children.
The injured include a woman from Aaligund hamlet and a young boy, locals said, adding that the victims have been shifted for medical treatment.

The incidents have raised concern in the area, with villagers saying they are unable to move freely due to the threat posed by the animal.
“We are scared to step out. The dog attacks anyone it sees. Children are the most vulnerable,” a local villager told the news agency Kashmir News Trust adding that few days back this dog also attacked a calf.
The village head of Shahabad Payeen appealed to the authorities to intervene and capture the animal before more people are harmed.
Villagers said they have not attempted to kill the dog due to fear of possible legal consequences, urging officials to deploy teams to handle the situation.
The situation has led to heightened anxiety in the village, with locals calling for immediate action to ensure public safety. [KNT]
