Mild Earthquake Jolts Leh, No Damage Reported, Tremors Recorded at 4.5 Magnitude, Depth 10 km

 

Leh, Oct 14, KNT: Mild tremors were felt in Leh morning after a low-intensity earthquake struck the region. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the quake measured 4.5 on the Richter scale and originated at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface.

Officials said the tremor was brief but noticeable across several parts of Leh and adjoining areas. Panic-stricken locals rushed out of their homes and workplaces as buildings shook lightly for a few seconds.

Authorities confirmed that no reports of casualties or property damage have been received so far. “Preliminary assessments indicate no loss of life or structural damage. The situation remains under control,” an official from the district disaster management unit stated. [KNT]
