Three Held with Narcotics in Pampore; Police Intensify Crackdown on Drug Peddling


Pampore, Nov 11, KNT: Pampore Police, led by SHO Police Station Pampore Inspector Khalid Fayaz, arrested three individuals during a naka checking operation conducted at Laterbal near the gas plant in Pampore.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ashfaq Ahmad Khanday, son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Wuyan; Muhammad Maqbool Rather, son of Abdul Ahad, resident of Pustona Tral; and Abid Hussain Khan, son of Nazir Ahmad Khan, resident of Larow Tral.
During their personal search, police recovered 725 grams of bhang chura and 25 grams of a charas-like substance from their possession. Following the recovery, a case FIR No. 119/2025 under Sections 8/20/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Pampore, and an investigation has been initiated to trace the source and network behind the contraband.

Police officials said that the operation reflects the ongoing commitment of Awantipora Police to intensify their campaign against the drug menace in the region. Authorities have urged locals to come forward with any information related to drug trafficking or peddling activities, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
