FAIMA Seeks LG, CM Intervention After Lift Malfunction at GMC Baramulla

Baramulla, Nov 11, KNT: National Executive Member of the FAIMA Doctors Association and Vice President of AIMSA, Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, has urged the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister to personally intervene following a lift malfunction at the Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, which caused severe inconvenience to patients and attendants on Monday.
The incident triggered widespread concern after video clips of the faulty lift went viral on social media, showing attendants struggling to manage patient movement amid the technical failure.
Dr. Momin said such infrastructure lapses in key healthcare institutions have a direct and adverse impact on patient care, particularly in facilities that cater to large numbers of critical patients. “There should be no compromise on patient safety and functional infrastructure in hospitals. The administration must ensure timely maintenance and accountability,” he stated.
He urged the authorities to initiate a thorough inspection of all critical equipment and facilities in medical colleges and hospitals across the Union Territory to prevent similar incidents.
